Academic MindTrek 7.-9.10.
It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 11th MindTrek Conference and the International Academic Conference MindTrek 2008 Entertainment and Media in the Ubiqutious Era. The MindTrek scientific track was premiered in 2007 in a smaller scale however, this year it is extended on a larger scale and in cooperation with ACM.

The academic tracks aims at the presentation of cutting edge research results in the field of ubimedia, social media, and gaming. An interdisciplinary team of international researchers was brought together to research the future of media technology from different perspectives. From the approx. 70 submitted papers, 40 papers have been divided into the three main tracks of the conference: ubimedia, social media, and games between 7th and 9th of October in Tampere, Finland. Most of the papers will be presented on Tuesday Oct 7th. The call for papers attracted submissions from 24 countries in Asia, Europe, South America, North America and Australia.

  • Final papers are due by 29th of August (strict deadline due to our tight printing schedule!)
  • The detailed programme of the academic tracks will be published at the beginning of September.

The scientific part of the conference is organized in co-operation with ACM SIGMM, and ACM SIGCHI. Conference proceedings will be published in the ACM Digital Library. Selected high quality papers will be selected and published in international journals, as book chapters, or via open access journals.

Nordic games researchers (PhD students & staff) can apply for travel and accomodation support from NGRN (www.ngrn.dk.)
