Sonja works as a Legal Counsel at KPMG Finland. Her main practice areas are data protection law, ICT law, and media law. Sonja advises clients on questions related to technology and data use, with a particular focus on the issues at the crossroads of digitalization and privacy. She has also worked in Ireland, developing AI classification for online content analysis in a leading global technology company.
Sonja is passionate about data ethics and sustainable use of data. She’s also interested in new ways technology allows audiences to engage with media, from interactive storytelling to user-generated content.

Emerging technologies have presented a variety of new solutions and methods for media creation, such as advanced back-office tools as well as algorithmic content personalized for each user. Adopting these technologies requires careful consideration from legal and ethical perspectives. This talk covers both further opportunities and potential pitfalls of such technologies from the legal point of view. We’ll also discuss the key regulation and requirements related to the use, repurposing and sharing of user data.
