Pekka Eloranta has over 35 years of experience on the ITS, logistics, telematics and public transport related projects. Mr. Eloranta has been the Project Co-ordinator, Project Manager, Site Manager and expert in tens of EU-level R&D projects dealing with integrated mobility, Mobility-as-a-Service, demand responsive transport, logistics, IoT, Big Data, etc. He has given several lectures in international and national conferences, seminars, institutes, universities, written several publications and journals and acted as a coauthor in several books related to integrated transport systems, C-ITS, demand responsive transport and city logistics. He has been an invited member of the National SME R&D Committee by Business Finland – the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation. Additionally, he has been the ITS Finland Board Member and currently is the Management Team Member and coordinator of the regional ITS Factory network.

Autonomous feeder traffic with electric shuttle buses , SHOW-project activities in Tampere
The speech deals with the objectives of the City of Tampere to develop, test and deploy autonomous feeder transport services to the new tram/light rail service in Hervanta suburb and the Tampere University Hospital Campus area. The aim of the City is to offer automated on-demand door-to-door feeder bus for the whole Hervanta suburban area. In addition to feeder transport, it will also provide the citizens means to travel to schools, day care, hobbies, doctor, shops, other services, etc. The hospital campus area is the further extension of the SHOW-project. Due to the long walking distances (>300 m) the need for local autonomous transport services. The public campus area has already a lot of existing traffic and the shortage of parking places is causing problems. The area will also be one of the main transfer hubs between the area wide bus and tram services. The speech also describes the scope of the whole SHOW-project that will commence in the beginning of 2020.
