The winner of the MindTrek Grand Prix 2008, €20 008, is the movie production community Wreck-A-Movie by Star Wreck Studios Oy.

Mun Tampere / My Tampere Video Contest
Ensimmäisen palkinnon, 1000 euroa, voitti ulkomaalaisten sarjaan osallistunut "Tampere - A Truly British Guide", tekijät Dan Castro (UK) sekä Nick Rowley (UK).
First Price, €1000 to "Tampere A Truly British Guide", by Dan Castro and Nick Rowley (UK).
Toisen palkinnon, 500 euroa kumpikin, jakoivat Jukka Pajuvirran "L.A.Kirppis, Tampere" sekä Pauli Hokkasen ja Antti Kurran "Kuvia öisestä kaupungista", molemmat yli 17-vuotiaiden sarjassa.
Second Prices, €500 to each, won by Jukka Pajuvirta's "L.A.Kirppis, Tampere" and "Images from the City by Night" by Pauli Hokkanen and Antti Kurra.
Kunniamaininnan sai Franziska Emhardtin ja Kathrin Muessigmanin "That's our Tampere" (DE).
Honorary mention to "That's our Tampere", by Franziska Emhardt and Kathrin Muessigmann (DE).
Dan Castro, Nick Rowley, Franziska Emhardt and Kathrin Müssigmann are exchange students of the Interactive Media Programme at TAMK School of Art and Media.

Yhdeksästä kilpailutyöstä tuomaristo päätti myöntää pääpalkinnon 10 000 € Joikusoft Oy:n JoikuSpot –palvelulle.
First Price €10 000 went to the JoikuSpot service by Joikusoft Oy. Lisäksi myönnettiin Langaton Tampere –kannustuslisä 5000 € Juha Tiensyrjän idealle Tapahtuma- ja palvelusuosittelijaksi.
Additionally Juha Tiensyrjä was awarded with a €5000 encouragement prize for his idea about an event and service recommender.

The five nominees for the €20 008 MindTrek Grand Prix have been announced. The nominations are made by the MindTrek Grand Prix jury. The winner will be selected by the Grand Juror Matti Apunen, Editor-in-Chief of Aamulehti, and awarded at the MindTrek Awards Ceremony October 8th at Hotel Rosendahl. Operaatio Hurrikaani on kouluikäisille suunnattu agenttiaiheinen
TV-ohjelma ja web-palvelu. TV-ohjelma lähetetään lauantaisin osana
koululaisten ohjelmapakettia ja sille on ympärivuorokautinen jatke
web-palvelun muodossa. Kokonaisuuden punaisena lankana on

TVkaista on verkossa toimiva henkilökohtainen digikanavien tallennin.

Virtuaalimaailma Moi Pal
MoiPal on virtuaalimaailma, johon voi liittyä
ja jota voi pelata netissä, mutta sen voi myös ladata matkapuhelimeen.
MoiPaliin liittyminen on ilmaista ja rekisteröitymisvaiheessa käyttäjä

Wreck-A-Movie
Wreck-A-Movie
on palvelu, jossa kuka tahansa voi koota yhteisön oman elokuva- tai muun
audiovisuaalisen projektin ympärille ja pyytää apua erilaisissa
tuotantoon liittyvissä tehtävissä. Palvelu ei erottele "ammattilaisia"
ja "amatöörejä", vaan tärkeintä on halu osallistua.

YLEn mobiilipalvelujen uudistus kattaa uuden käyttöliittymän ja konseptin, julkaisu- ja jakelualustojen

The nominees of the 2nd international NOKIA Ubimedia MindTrek Award
are:
• Babbage Cabbage Empathetic Living Media: Adrian David Cheok,
National University of Singapore, Singapore and Keio University, Japan;

Point-to-Discover: Peter Frohlich, Rainer Simon, Erwin Wittowetz, Gerhard
Obernberger, Matthias Baldauf, Telecommunication Research Centre, Austria;

TreasureHunter: Remco Magielse, Iris Soute, Panos Markopoulos, Department of
Industrial Design, Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands;
The
winners will be announced during the MindTrek Conference on the 8th of
October.
The international jury justifyes the nominations:
Babagge Cabagge stands out as a project that might
have come ten years too early. Nevertheless we were impressed by the vision of
computers interacting with plants, as this project showed influencing the color
of red cabbages by changing the soil pH-value. Thus they could be used as slow
displays that are coupled to slowly changing information, e.g. air pollution or
similar environmental data. The jury believed that Babagge Cabagge has paved the
(long) way to a truly ubiquitous media environment beyond the screen.
Point-To-Discover lets us discover any place at
a fingertip. By pointing a mobile phone device towards any point of interest the
respective information would be instantly shown on the screen. This way the
project has overcome the keyboard to develop a very natural and less obtrusive
interface. The jury was fully convinced by this sophisticated combination of
localization, motion capturing and a solid business case.
Treasure Hunter excels with an elaborated social
gaming concept. Kids can play capture-the-flag style games with a set of simple
Bluetooth devices offering proximity sensoring and the passing on of virtual
items. The devices do not have a screen and add seamlessly to the traditional
form of outdoor game play, making the kids concentrate on each other instead of
on the device.Babbage

The Nokia Ubimedia MindTrek Awards is an international competition, one of the categories in MindTrek Awards. The other MindTrek Awards are only for entries made in Finland.
The purpose of the competition is to encourage makers of digital media to generate ideas and develop new and innovative ubimedia products & services. The entries are expected to take a stand on the following questions, for example:
• How does ubiquitous computing affect media environments?
• What are intelligent media environments like?
• What will the location- and context-aware media services of the future be like?
The price sum is €7000.

The World Summit Award Finland is for Finnish entries only.
World Summit Award Finland 2008 -kilpailu
MINDTREK valitsee Suomen
ehdokkaat World Summit Award 2009 kilpailuun. Vaikka molemmat YK:n
tietoyhteiskuntahuippukokoukset on pidetty (Geneve 2003, Tunis 2005) jatkuu WSA
yhteistyössä UNIDOn, UNESCOn, Internet Societyn ja muiden organisaatioiden
kanssa. Edellinen WSA järjestettiin vuonna 2007.
Tekijät voivat ilmoittaa kilpailuun 1.10.2006
jälkeen julkaistut työt. Tuomaristo voi myös kutsua arvioitavakseen työn joka
ei ole ilmoittautunut.
Myös jokainen suomalainen voi ehdottaa suosikkiaan
Suomen edustajaksi kaikissa kategorioissa.
