My Tampere videocontest has 14 participants

My Tampere -videocontest has received 14 videos, 14 different visions of the true essence of Tampere.

The results will be announced at the MindTrek Awards Ceremony October 8th.

The winners will be notified in person.

A collection of participating videos will be screened during the MindTrek week on Tuesday October 7th and on Wednesday October 8th at 1 pm and 3:30 pm at Cinema Niagara, and on Thursday October 9th 12 am to 5 pm in the Internet Bus Netti-Nysse on Central Square Keskustori. The videos are also available at the website of Tamperelainen.

Featuring a special category for foreign participants

What does Tampere look like with your eyes? Which place, event, and Tampere way of life or person would you like to show other people? What’s best and what’s worst in Tampere? Most fun? Most exiting? What excels compared to other cities?
Illustrate your point of view on video. The prize sum is 2000 Euro, for one winner alone or divided between some.

Additionally Tamperelainen newspaper will arrange a public vote; there are extra prizes in this contest as well.
The maximum duration of the video is 5 minutes. Deadline for entries is September 26th 2008.

Purpose of the contest:
My Tampere Video Contest aims at highlighting and collecting different and new views on and experiences of Tampere, places, events, ways of life, people and to share these images with everybody.

- under 17 years

- 17 years and older

- foreign participants

Your road to stardom:
August 1 to September 26 2008

Entering the contest:
You can enter the contest by shooting a video clip with the theme of My Tampere. The maximum duration of the video clip is five minutes. The video clip must be entirely made by you, and it cannot include any material copied from another source. In addition, the video clip may not offend anyone.

Returning the contest videos:

A) Mail the video on a DVD to MindTrek 2008 / My Tampere Contest /Hermiankatu 1, 33720 Tampere. Attach a note with the category you are participating in and your contact details.

B) Transfer the video online, use the entry form
Prize:
The prize sum is 2 000 Euro.
The cash prize may be awarded to one contestant, divided between several contestants, or not be awarded at all, depending on how the video clips meet the criteria set by the contest jury. The cash prize is subject to taxation, and the recipient(s) must declare the sum in their tax return.

Tamperelainen newspaper will additionally award the public vote winners with prizes.
The winners will be notified in person.
Winning criteria:
The winning video clip must meet the criteria set by the jury. The video clips will be assessed according to the following elements:
• fresh perspective, uniqueness, and creativity
• entertainment and information value
• visual execution and overall effect.
Results:
The winners of the contest will be notified in person. The results of the contest will be published at the MindTrek Awards Ceremony, October 8 at Hotel Rosendahl, Tampere.

Rights to the entries:
The City of Tampere has the right to freely use, reproduce, publish, and distribute the video clips entered in the contest without compensation in their marketing and press release material as well as in their exhibition and educational activities. Also Suomen Lehtiyhtymä has the right to use the videos without compensation.
