INDIE GAMES AWARDS NOMINEES 2011 ARE PUBLISHED (SEPT 20)
The five nominees of MindTrek Indie Game Awards are:
The Swapper
Amazing audiovisual atmosphere. Physics, graphics and audio well balanced. Fresh approach to traditional side scroller adventure genre.
Driftmoon
Competes in very difficult genre which has the most demanding but also most loyal users. Fascinating story offers possibility to prevail.
Carrotia
In Japanese there is a word "kawaii" which means cute (in Finnish "ihqu"). The character of this game is the definition of that word. IP has excellent expanding possibilities.
Journey of Blobos
Well polished high quality iOS game. Brings something new to well-worn Physics based games field.
Jackals
Ambitious and brave effort to enter into the most mainstream game genre of all. Does it all and then some.
The final decision takes place 21.9.2011. The winner will be informed.
The winner will be published and awarded in MindTrek Conference Sept 29.

Indie Games Awards is looking for indie game developers and companies creating the future success of Finnish games industry. The competition is organized with the Finnish Center of Games Industry Neogames and Game and Media Brand Investment Fund Mediatonic. The competition is open to Finnish independent game developers with an unpublished game or a demo to any commonly used digital game devices.
The main prize will be a trip for two to San Francisco to Game Developers Conference in March 2012 (value appr. 5 000 €), and a chance to negotiate for Mediatonic Funding of 30 000 - 500 000 euros.

Registration opens in May 9, 2011 and ends in September 5, 2011. The entries must all be made by filling out the online form.
If the product is in a form of physical copy, three copies of the game product must be sent to the MindTrek office and be received by September 5, 2011.
Jury selects short list of 5 products and the winner of the competition will be selected amongst them.The award ceremony will take place in the MindTrek Conference in September 29-30, 2011, in Tampere, Finland. The winners will be notified prior to the event.
