Data Catalog

The competition team collected a data catalog of Finnish public data. The data catalog is hosted in suomi.fi portal was updated until the midsummer 2009. The data catalog is available only in finnish.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

It IS ALLOWED to use also other data sources than the ones in the suomi.fi data catalog. This was not so clearly informed here at the MindTrek contest pages. The data catalog as well as the listings about web APIs are meant to be helpful tools for the participants and not restrictive lists of allowed data sources and APIs. However, the following two things about data sources should be kept in mind:

1. All the data sources should be freely available for the other participants as well. This means that also data sources that are not in the data catalog can be used as long as anybody who wishes to participate in the competition has possibility to use the same data sources.

2. The theme of the contest is to make better use of open public data. It is ok to use also other open data sources like wikipedia, open streetmap etc. that are not provided by any public sector organization, but succesfull mashup should utilize at least some public data as well.

Help us in setting the data free

What kind of data you would like to use in the competition? We have been in contact to many public sector organizations, but there are many more still to be contacted. It is quite an effort to find and reach from every organization the right person who is responsible for the data.

If you have some specific data source in your mind, please let us know and we can try to get it included in the data catalog.
